Great Opportunities in Alba Iulia

In a field during village outreach

During the last few days we have done outreaches with loads of children in a nearby village and also back at the OAC base in Alba Iulia.

In the garden at OAC Base

It has been exciting to see the children respond as they hear the Gospel.  Some of them for the first time.

We have used puppets, clowns, gospel magic, Bible stories, singing and the sketch-board.

Yesterday we climbed a large hill and had a picnic lunch at the base of some huge rocks.

Picnic at hanging rock with the outreach team

It was awesome to see the Lord speak to us through that experience and later on in the day through several mighty and powerful acts!

We experienced a huge factory fire in the nearby street and then a tremendous storm with wind, lightning and hail the size of golf balls. So good to know our God is still in control.

Thank you for your prayers for the remainder of this mission.  In a few days I will begin the long haul back home to Australia so will value your prayers for travelling mercies as well.  Thanks.

Now in Alba Iulia

We have had a great week of ministry here in Alba Iulia, central Romania.

Several days of training has been followed by kids outreaches in villages and housing blocks.

We also conducted street meetings in the central park and have spoken at church meetings on Sunday morning and evening.  On Monday we had a special trip to the mountains where we enjoyed magnificant scenery.  What a powerful Creator God we serve!

Today we went to a village a few miles away for another kids outreach.  We go there again tomorrow.

Please continue to pray for us as we teach, train and do outreach every day for the rest of this week.

Vienna – God has done a great work!

Working with “Reach the City”this summer has been a great privilege.  Although our team wasn’t enormous we saw the Lord do great things through and in us.  As you know a picture is worth a thousand words so here are some pictures to show you what was happening.

Leaving South Africa tomorrow

What a joy it has been to serve the Lord here in South Africa with my wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ.  The Lord’s family is a great family!   I know that He has blessed and encouraged us all during the World Cup outreach here in Cape Town.  We have seen more than 35,000 Gospel leaflets distributed and many souls challenged with the wonderful Gospel message of salvation through Christ.  We have been privileged to share this good news with World Cup fans from so many different countries as they descended upon Cape Town.

We also shared the Gospel with hundreds of children and young people as we visited a township, an orphanage and participated in a special day of activities at a youth outreach program.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and for standing with us in prayer.

As I travel tomorrow to Europe for several more weeks of ministry I am thankful to the Lord for the privilege of serving Him here in South Africa.

On Friday (16th July) the Reach the City program commences in Vienna.  I will be helping to train and teach believers some of the various ways of doing outreach and street evangelism. Every day we will run seminars, workshops and then practical training as we actually go out into the busy streets and city squares to share the Gospel during the afternoon and evenings.  (In Europe at this time of the year it is daylight until about 9pm).

Please continue your prayers and encouraging comments and don’t forget to keep returning to this blog to read more of what the Lord is doing through Teach and Tell Ministries.

Sharing the Good News in South Africa

Yesterday (Friday) shared the Gospel with magic tricks to hundreds of teenagers at a special World Cup youth event at Fish Hoek, near Cape Town, South Africa.

On Thursday we went to a township (that’s a shanty town) on the edge of Cape Town and helped run a fun day for the children.  More than 350 kids showed up!  We ran games, quizes, memory verses, singing, etc.  We also fed them with sandwiches and hot dogs.  I was grateful for the opportunity to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ with them all through a presentation of Gospel magic and sketch-board.

More World Cup News

The last few days have been busy doing outreach and handing out Gospel literature to fans.

Today we did a Kids program in a Township in Cape Town.  What a joy to share the Gospel with all these kids!  About 320 of them!  We entertained them, fed them and I was privileged to do a sketch-board message and also some Gospel Magic for them all.   The event ran all day so by the time we were finished I think most of us were totally exhausted.  But it was certainly worth it!

Thanks so much for your prayers and encouraging comments.  Please keep them coming.

World Cup in South Africa

I am now arrived and established in Cape Town and involved in evangelism in the Sea Point area of Cape Town.  This is a main shopping street that leads directly to the giant Football Stadium that is about one klm away.

The Lord has been good to me.  Here are a couple of important needs I had that the Lord truly encouraged me in…

  1. When I left home I still had some work to do on a new aluminium portable sketch board I had been constructing so I was praying I would be able to get that done before my onward flight to Cape Town.  In Johannesburg the Lord arranged for me to stay with a lovely Italian/SA family.  Mario is a toolmaker and his workshop adjoined the house. In it was every conceivable tool, pop rivets (boxes of 1,000 in various sizes), clamps, grinders, drills, etc that one could ever need!  So it was a breeze to get the job done!  (Some homes I visit don’t even have a hammer or a screwdriver).  Thank you Lord!View from our balcony
  2. I was dreading the 2 weeks of sleeping on the floor in a cold church basement or something like that – (this is what I was expecting). Instead 8 others and I are staying in a fantastic penthouse on a beautiful foreshore at Hout Bay overlooking some of the most beautiful scenery in South Africa.  I have my own room, comfortable bed and magnificent scenery.  How good is that?  Once again… Thank You Lord!

Mind you I have only made use of the room for a few hours each night with our days filled with travelling, witnessing, outreach, etc.

One night we did outreach with the team in the nightclub district and I didn’t get to bed until 1.30am and then was up again at 5.45am for a busy day of meetings and outreach.

The first day we arrived we did a prayer-walk to the stadium and back with the team.  It took an hour and ½ to do 1 klm each way.  Apart from praying for the souls of needy people who live here and all the visiting fans we stopped and engaged in conversations with so many, sharing Gospel literature and the message of Jesus Christ.  After the football game, which was screened in the church to visitors who came in off the streets, (more opportunity to share Christ with them), we went out on the streets again to witness.  How encouraging to see, due to the team’s efforts, 5 souls saved on the streets during those first few hours of evangelism.  Since then we have seen many more trust in Christ.

Part of our team who came with me to the Sunday church service

On Sunday morning I spoke at a local church meeting.

4 people were baptised

What a joy to be involved together with South African believers as we reach out to the needy lost of this world.  I took some of our team with me and they gave testimonies during the service.  As well as having us take part in the service they also had 2 baby dedications and 4 people baptised.

Yesterday we went to an Aids Orphanage.  It was great to show the love of Jesus to these children in many ways.  Some of the girls on the team changed, bathed and fed the kids.  I was able to do some Gospel magic  and share the way of Salvation with these children and that was a great joy!

What a joy it is to be serving the Lord here.  Please continue to pray for me and the team as we train, minister and share the Gospel in South Africa during the World Cup.
